Make your thumbnail show artwork in Lightburn

Can you make the thumbnail icon on Lightburn artwork?

Some things in life just get annoying, little irritants that just don’t need to be. I noticed this with the thumbnails in Lightburn so I did my research and fixed it!

This is how to change your Lighburn thumbnail into Artwork:

  • Enter “File” into your Search Bar.
  • Open File Explorer.
  • Click on the View tab.
  • Under Files and Folders the “Always show Icons, never Thumbnails” is checked.
  • Uncheck the “Always show Icons, never Thumbnails” box.
  • Click Apply.

How to change Lightburn Icons to Thumbnails (Windows)

I decided to make a quick picture tutorial just to help anyone having this issue understand the solution a little better.  If you are having issues with your files not showing artwork on your desktop or in folders, rest assure this will fix you right up.  This scenario I used a Lightburn file for Life Liberty Outdoors, a great veteran non-profit I made some Christmas ornaments for.

This picture shows the search bar and the word file typed in it.
In your computers search bar, search the word "File" and the File Explorer
In this screenshot you see the blue check box on "Always show Icons, Never Thumbnails" and the Lightburn file as an icon.

Some slight redundancy between these two pictures, the second just being a zoomed in box of the adjustment you will make. Changing the checked box to unchecked will make the change you are looking for to add artwork to your Lightburn thumbnail.

Next, changing File Explorer to show thumbnails.

Here we see the File Explorer advanced setting with the "Always show Icons, Never Thumbnails" unchecked.

Lastly, you will click the "Apply" button and your artwork will not show in you icon thumbnails for Lightburn.
